ErudiFi: Breaking Stigmas (Continued)

Last month, we shared two stories from the Walang Hiyang Estudyante Awards

First was Dr Louise Galleras journey to becoming a dentist. Second was Jes Acain’s parenthood as a student.

This month, we like to share six more:

  • Joan Abiday – the “oldest” student who spent over 9 years in college
  • ZY Ongsiaco – who believes “even (reading) a single sentence can change a person’s outlook in life”
  • Jolina Padillo – who is “shattering the barriers of poverty” through education
  • Cris Suazo – who cling-wrapped his laptop to bring into COVID ICU to study during break times as a nurse (turned lawyer)
  • Wena Sadorra – who believes education is a means of empowerment rather than the societal view of obtaining it for “success”
  • Bem Villas – who overcame insecurities and challenges switching courses
